Artificial life has been a favorite topic for programmers since the late 1960s, when they first simulated organisms with simple programs like the famous "Game of Life". Ladd explores the contemporary descendants of these experiments, showing programmers how to take advantage of genetic algorithms and software robots to create usable projects.
